The data can be displayed as tables which will enable you to analyse trends such as areas, dates, sales, marketing results etc The most well know spreadsheet programme is Microsoft Excel, but there are others such as OpenOffice and Google Spreadsheets (which are free). If you need to apply for funding or approach a bank for a loan, a spreadsheet will be useful to provide data on how your business has been performing.
